Abolition of transfer duty – *Update*

Last year we wrote about the push for state tax reform, and in particular the abolition of the inefficient transfer duty.  On 24 January 2016, the Sunday Mail claimed that the Federal Government would be proposing a new uniform scheme to abolish state duty (and possibly payroll tax) in return for a larger share of income tax receipts.

It will be interesting to see the content of any proposal by the Federal Government in this regard, and the response from the Queensland Government.
